Responsibility to Associates


With approximately 14,500 associates based in 45 states and nine Canadian provinces, HD Supply is a significant employer in the industrial distribution industry. As such, we take our responsibility to our associates very seriously and do our best to create an environment where they can grow and succeed.

  • Helping Hand Fund – HD Supply established the Helping Hand Fund, an associate-funded program, which enables associates to provide emergency financial assistance to support their fellow team members who may be experiencing financial difficulties due to events such as natural disasters, medical crises and/or death.
  • Safety – The HD Supply Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) group is dedicated to the protection and well-being of all associates. EHS provides a wealth of training materials and programs to educate associates on safe and healthful work practices. Topics range from hearing conservation and heat illness prevention to fire prevention and electrical safety.
  • Code of Conduct – HD Supply does not tolerate unethical or unlawful behavior and requires associates to comply with the company's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, which addresses a wide range of critical areas, including fair employment, environmental, health and safety issues and more. In support of this, we maintain Alertline, an anonymous hotline for associates to report concerns and questionable activity.

Responsibility to the Environment

Recognizing that sustainability is a critical need to protect our environment and our way of life, HD Supply has incorporated many green practices into our daily operations. Thus, we have incorporated a variety of green practices across the company, from installation of energy efficient lighting at many locations to implementation of comprehensive recycling programs. For us, sustainability is not just about selling green products; it's about fostering an environmentally-sensitive culture across the company. Additionally, to meet customer demand for environmentally-friendly products, HD Supply has ideallygreensm, a company-wide sustainability program. Ideallygreen is used as a product identifier by some of our lines of business to help customers select eco-preferable products. Recognizing that sustainability is critical to protecting our environment and way of life, we believe our responsibility goes beyond green product offerings.

Additionally, our Environmental, Health and Safety department facilitates storm water pollution prevention measures and best management practices to reduce impact to our nation’s lakes and streams and has also implemented proactive spill prevention methods and technologies to reduce the potential of material leakage.

Responsibility to our Business Partners

HD Supply manages our business with the highest integrity, so our customers can trust us to serve them with honor and professionalism. One of the ways we demonstrate this responsibility is to partner with suppliers that share our values and commitment to upholding ethical principles. To that end, we contract with global testing and inspection companies, which offer a variety of social and environmental screening methods. Depending on country risk, our suppliers must meet our screening requirements for fraud, employment and pay practices (such as age requirements, no forced labor, non discrimination, freedom of expression and association, wages, and work hours), emergency planning environmental health and safety. Complete access to a supplier's facilities must be granted. We also make available our Ethics Guide for Suppliers, Contractors and Consultants, which clearly communicates our expectation of compliance.

HD Supply also knows the value of partnering with diverse businesses and understands their ability to offer quality products, service and innovation. Our Supplier Diversity Program was developed to build strong relationships with certified Minority and Women Business Enterprises (MWBE) and small businesses.
